Ego Likeness started as an Experimental/Dark Trip Hop project in 1999 by Steven Archer and Donna Lynch. The band released one cd with the style called “Songs From A Dead City”. Shortly after Ego Likeness took a Dark Electronic/Dance sound and released “Dragon Fly” in 2000. The cd took cues from some of the greats such as Collide, The Last Dance, The Crüxshadows, and Delirium. The sound while still retaining the original dark and experimental feel still manages to be a dark dance album. The band dropped off the face of the earth for a few years to re-emerge in 2004 with a new album “Water To The Dead” and a new label in Dancing Ferret Discs. Ego Likeness found themselves at an array of festivals shortly thereafter including Dracula’s Ball, Convergence 11, The Blacksun Festival I, and the Eccentrik Festival I. Dancing Ferret re-released their debut album for the masses which allowed the band to further tour and gain a new audience.
Since it’s inception in 1999 Ego Likeness has constantly evolved and changed. Lynch’s haunting and soothing vocals mixed with Archer’s uncanny musical ability has turned Ego Likeness into a well rounded band. Every song bleeds emotion and every word is perfectly fit to the mood. If for nothing else Ego Likeness is known as a hard working constantly touring band. They are currently on tour with Android Lust directly after finishing a European Tour with Ayria and Angelspit. Ego Likeness creators Steven Archer and Donna Lynch never seem to stop moving. While touring the band is also working on a new cd scheduled for the summer of 2008 and both Lynch and Archer have books coming out in 2008. Lynch is writing a novel entitled “Isabelle Burning” and Archer is writing a children’s book entitled “Luna Maris” which he also illustrated. There never seems to be a shortage of things to do for the two. The music however doesn’t seem to suffer with each release the band get’s better and with a new album in the works 2008 is sure to be the year of Ego Likeness.
