They often say good things come in pairs. The same is true with California’s Flesh Field. Fronted by Ian Ross and Wendy Yanko, Flesh Field is part of a ever growing music movement of holding the fierce male vocals with just as fierce but beautiful female vocals. The most popular of groups sharing this image is Sweden’s Lacuna Coil. While Flesh Field isn’t enjoying the major label success they are still extremely talented in the vocal department. Flesh Field is building a legion of dedicated fans worldwide with their brand of industrial madness. Flesh Field’s music is a wonderful fusion of hard industrial beats and a splash of classical symphonies. Ian’s seething vocals and Wendy’s powerful voice mix perfectly with the sound they have created. With Influences ranging from Nine Inch Nails to Front Line Assembly to Hans Zimmer it’s not hard to see how dark and powerful Flesh Field can be. Their debut “Strain” (2004) is proof of how good Flesh Field is. Their tracks grab you and don’t let go until your gasping for more.
Flesh Field while underground has seen their fare share of publicity being featured on the ever growing compilation “Septic VI” and also had a track featured in the Xbox 360 game “Project Gotham Racing 3″. Flesh Field has also rocked the crowd at the ever popular annual “Mera Luna Festival” in Germany and also the “Summer Of Darkness Festival” in Holland. As Flesh Field catches on more and more it is obvious that they are definitely going places. They are yet another find addition to the already stellar track record of Metropolis Records. I look forward to hearing more of them in the future. If you get the chance to check out Flesh Field either live or just a cd you shall not be disappointed.
